About Us

Professor Pascale Fournier is Vice-Dean Research and an Associate Professor at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law, Civil Law Section. She received her S.J.D. from Harvard in 2007. Pascale Fournier’s research assistant for this project is Manprit (Preet) Virdi, who is a doctoral student of law at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. Examining immigrant Sikh women’s perspectives on personal and family problems, Preet’s thesis is concerned with multiple understandings of law and legality in the Canadian context. She completed her masters degree in socio-legal studies from York University in 2010 after conducting primary research on immigrant Sikh women and how they access justice in Ontario, Canada.
